History
of Armenia goes back to prehistoric times. There are however, few
different theories of appearance of this beautiful people: For example,
mount Ararat is described as a focal point of life on earth, that’s
were Noah’s Arc came to rest.
It was not an accident that Armenia was the first country that accepted
Christianity as a state religion in year 301 A.D. Geographically,
Armenia is only a small portion ~10% of what is called “Greater
Armenia”. Since geographically Armenia stood as a crossroad
for Romans, Persians, Arabs, Mongols, and Turks, she became battlefield
for many of them and was constantly under attacks. The darkest day
of Armenian history, is April 24 / 1915 when 1.5 million Armenians
were killed by Ottoman Turkish government. Armenia became independent
in 1918 but severely damaged while fighting Turks and the Bolsheviks
on two frontiers. She had no other choice but becoming a part of
Soviet Union. In 1920 Armenia became a Soviet Socialist Republic.
After many repressions and loss of historic lands done by Stalin
and enormous casualties in (The Great Patriotic War) WWII 1941-1945,
Armenia became immune to those darkest days. Armenia gave number
of great scientists, astrophysicists, Linguists, architects, artists,
composers, political figures etc. From the end of the 1950’s
Armenia started to develop rapidly and experienced it’s renaissance.
With many sacrifices Armenia kept her identity. After brake of Soviet
Union Stalin’s time bombs started exploiting in Caucasus one
of them was Ngagorno-Gharabagh Autonomic District with majority
Ethnic Armenian population. Stalin had given this historic Armenian
land, to Soviet Azerbaijan. Armenia was one of the first Republics
that declared independence from Soviet Union. At the same time local
Azeri government with a permit from Soviet government to commit
ethnic cleansing on it’s territory and the territory of Nagorno
–Gharabagh, however after four years of independence of Armenia,
Nagorno- Gharabagh became a declared it’s independence.
